Putting it into a protocol
-
Pre-clean.
Fecal matter and waste are thoroughly removed before disinfection. Vigorous wiping or scrubbing until all visible soil is gone.
-
Prepare the solution.
4306 ppm available chlorine for the surface claim; the foam concentrate is prepared per the foam dilution chart. Tablet counts and water volumes are on the dilution chart.
-
Apply and hold.
Surfaces stay visibly wet for the full contact time listed above. If the surface dries early, the claim does not apply.
-
Direction of work.
Right to left or left to right on horizontal surfaces, top to bottom on vertical. Restrooms last. Do not reuse soiled cloths.
-
Coverage.
Manual wiping misses three-dimensional surfaces. Electrostatic application reaches IV poles, wheelchair frames, and other complex geometry.
Frequently asked
Is PurOne effective against biofilm bacteria?
Yes. PurOne is EPA-registered under 71847-7 against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus growing in a biofilm, both on hard, non-porous surfaces and in drains by foam application.
Does the drain claim use the same contact time as the surface claim?
No. The surface (liquid solution) claim requires a 4-minute contact time. The drain (foam) claim requires a 10-minute contact time. Both solutions are prepared at 4306 ppm.
Does PurTabs carry a biofilm claim?
No PurTabs biofilm claim appears in the approved claims sheet for either organism.
Can I use PurOne with an electrostatic sprayer?
Yes. Electrostatic application provides wraparound coverage on three-dimensional surfaces that manual wiping misses.
How do I know my team is achieving the contact time?
Audit it. Time how long a treated surface stays visibly wet in a real room, not a test bench, and check wipe saturation at the end of a room rather than the start.

Both dissolve in water to the concentration your protocol requires. Concentrated tablets remove the cost and weight of shipping water, and the dilution chart converts tablet count to available chlorine.

Need help matching a claim to your protocol?
Our healthcare team will walk your environmental services staff through a live training session covering concentration, contact time, and application technique. About 45 minutes, and there is no cost.
